A Multi-Million dollar European Manufacturer of diesel engines contacted Kennedy Power with the need for a new truck mounted APU (Auxiliary Power Unit) design. The desired APU had to use the manufacturer’s diesel engine and meet market driven functionality and use criterion, while having a cost structure that would facilitate competitiveness within a multi-level distribution system. Additionally, the manufacturer had to have a working prototype for product release within a very short time frame. |
- Bring a new product to market without compromising existing projects or creating additional loads on a fully loaded engineering project schedule.
- Define the market needs of the product.
- Kennedy Power would assist in developing costing and marketing strategies.
- Kennedy Power would develop a US based supplier structure for the product.
- Kennedy Power would display the prototype on a show booth within the defined “tight” schedule.

- Using SolidWorks 3D CAD, an APU was designed from concept to prototype.
- The 3D CAD models and sheet metal “flats” allowed our sheet metal suppliers to quickly and accurately laser cut and form panels for prototype fit up.
- Kennedy Power negotiated with suppliers to provide “special” and off-the-shelf components at very competitive prices.
- Using years of experience, Kennedy Power assisted in the development of pricing and marketing strategies and took an active role in the creation of the distribution system for the new APU.
- Kennedy Power designed “Show Stands” and special show transport containers to get the product to the introduction on time and in good shape.
- Kennedy Power worked with the client to provide assembly services on a mass production basis.

- All objectives were achieved or exceeded.
